trackmania is not popular compared to these other games at the moment. The community is lucky to still have tournaments like GA and ESWC. But things are promising for this year, let´s see.

I think TrackMania isn't really growing anymore, because of various reasons. Also, TMNF was getting old, and was no longer supported. It makes sense based on all that why it won't be in EMS any longer, even if it sucks hard.

I think it will only look promising if Nadeo starts focusing more on esports again when it comes to TrackMania. Though I haven't really got any indications that that will be the case. I guess we will find out soon.

I think our community is very spoiled. Since always we had teams with +20 players. We've been always making cups ordering a big effort by the players, putting them to play/train 3 maps per week for example. We've started this game wrong and we were incapable of change it :|

I hope that trackmania can grow up, but it's very hard to be in the scene of gaming with all of these other games :c

#3 One of the things I really liked about EMS is that there weren't as many maps to train, and there was also a player-limit to the teams which I think made a lot of sense and worked great. But sadly this was exclusive for EMS only. What's needed is standards for all tournaments, and co-operation between them. A federation of some sort has been (and still is) being discussed that would deal with stuff like this. Hopefully one day it will also be a reality.

I think to secure TrackMania as an esport it requires a shared effort from both the community AND the developers. I think it's the community's role to make up the standards for how the esport should work, but it's the developers role to let the community do that by being supportive, as well as taking feedback from the community and work alongside them.

But TrackMania is even more complicated than that because of its nature with several different environments. I've said this before but I think it's worth saying again: I think there needs to be a more concentrated goal when it comes to esports, and that's with just using 1 environment to represent TrackMania in esports. I just can't see us become a proper esport with the way its been going ever since Freezone and then Canyon were introduced.

Sad to hear that...

#3 You are right about that. It's not easy to fix bad habits of collecting many players in each team especially when tournament hosters distribute their own mappacks usually EACH week, making it very hard to stay trained on each map every week and close to impossible if another tournament is hosting at the same time.

Incapable of changing it, I hope not. The discussion about a TrackMania Federation started about 2 years ago in a private forum by tRkr/Sulli if I'm not mistaken. The core subjects discussed was
1. Map-pack distribution
2. Player-limits
3. Cooperation between the tournament hosters
4. Separate web-page for the TrackMania Federation

Among other topics related to TrackMania as a future sustainable E-sport game. The problems was lack of resources. We only came as far as talking/discussing. What we missed was a project leader and web developer to create it. Maybe when TrackMania 2: Stadium is launched we can take advantage of the transition and gather resources enough to get the competition scene on the right way?

Please guys tell me this is a big joke! u_U
I hope that tm2 stadium will be there. Its unfair but esl since many years become very useless than before. They all abandon us, deleteing all competitions and events ;'( This is depressing...

#7 Yes, that's what I said some weeks ago in the ET-Forum. This transition between games could be used to change this aspect, it's obviusly a big change, but it's necessary.

Hello guys,

http://www.tm-federation.com/

I don't think it's the best time to communicate about it, but be aware this project is still valid. Sulli tries to improve federation website by adding partnerships with organizations like et, esl and eswc but his job and girlfriend take him a lot of time.

This is a kind of beta version but idea is there. Don't hesitate to contact him if you need further informations. I guess he will give more news about it when stadium 2 will come. Be patient!

Wow, didn't know the project was actually gotten that far. This looks really great tRkr =)

Hey, I'd really like to get involved in this. I know i've been inactive in TM for about a year now but I still love the game and really want it to succeed as an eSport. Trkr/Sulli skype me some time. :)
