In High level competition, there is always one thing that comes out with every new game, this trend that have players to custom their game to optimize it. It can be a simple ingame configuration and setting, or CFG configurations. But this can also be graphic modifications in the card settings.
There has always been argumentations about people that think these things are simple minor modifications (tweak), that do not increase performance, and some other debates from people that call it cheat.
Unfortunatly, Shootmania will not be saved from these questions.
This was still a misfisted phenomenon some weeks ago, but it s spreading more and more since some high tournaments. Some may have discovered it at ESWC, or at IPL last week : The Nvidia Graphic cards (and only these ones) permit to radicaly modify the colours of the game, so as to completly change the game render. In Shootmania, you can turn the landscape into a violet world, where players apear flashy green. The advantage is that opponents can be more easely saw and aimed.
Our Drakonia friends who were at IPL last week faced this issue, and banned these games modifications. But we will wait and see if this ban will be kept in next online and live competitions.
Althoug Nadeo seems aware of this issue, they did not take any official decisions and opinion about the feeling they had about these modifications.
And if it was up to you? Should we close our eyes and let players do what they want with their Graphic settings, since everyone knows about it and can do it? Or on the contrary, should we forbidd, or ban players that use these Tweak/cheats? Should we use random screenshots making and ask for it?
Let us know your opinion about that!
