Hello Cerovan, could you introduce yourself to our readers, and describe your place at Nadeo?
Hello, my name is Cedric Anthony, Community Manager at Nadeo Live since a year now ^^. I started to work in the game industry in 2010 as a GameMaster. Then i worked for Ubisoft before going to Nadeo since July 2011.
As i said before, i’m the Community Manager at Nadeo Live, the structure which manage all the communication, a part of the technical support and which is related to the eSport on the Nadeo games. More precisely, i handle the communitary communication (forum, blog, Twitter, Facebook, Google+, press communiquee to community websites), a part of the support, the moderation of the official forums. I’m also one of the first contact of the studio and a privileged one when there is a need to communicate via our channels.
Yet, that’s not all because i can also develop internals or externals tools for the ManiaPlanet platform time to time (i’m a web developer at the origin).
We recently discovered the presence of ShootMania at the ESWC as main competition. The fact that the game is still in beta won't be a problem (changes in gameplay, new "competitive" modes, ...)?
Everything about gameplay has been more or less settle since the Alpha and shouldn’t be change now, we are satisfied about the behaviour and the physic of the character, points which the development studio has worked for years. It’s always possible that there is some retouches but there will not have a big revamp of the gameplay until the release.
For the gamemodes it’s the same thing, from the beginning we wished to have a competitive mode in each big eSport categorie (1v1, 3v3 and 5v5) which are represented by Joust, Elite and Heroes. If new officials gamemodes will be added in ShootMania, there will probably be integrated on the principal title like “Siege” lately.
The Beta phase is especially synonym of debugging and addition or improvement of functionalities in our case.
June has been quite busy for Nadeo with ShootMania to SOPA, CybSum, and DreamHack. On what(s) offline big events we will find Nadeo soon?
The latest big event was certainly the GamesCom where we saw the final of one of the biggest competition organised from this day on ShootMania in collaboration with ESL. It was a exciting competition, with some surprises and even more beautiful actions.
As you ay have noticed, ShootMania Storm will be at the ESWC as a main discipline, which means that ShootMania will be present at the Paris Game Week this year! Moreover TrackMania Nations and TrackMania² Canyon will be also present, the family will be almost complete! ^_^
And if you have maybe already noticed, big competitions start to appear outside France like the IGN Pro League which added ShootMania (even if it’s an online competition, we are very happy to see it here). And we have no plan to stop to this nor United States.
Currently ShootMania is moving strongly towards an eSport public. The microcosm of the competition seems acquired for SM, but how do you manage to touch people more casual, which hare many on the casual games?
We don’t rest yet, about the competitive scene because there is still a lot to do and we have many things to make to support even better the scene.
About the general public, we think that the eSport-side of the game will attract more and more people ingame by seeing how it’s easy to handle but it’s also at the same time very funny and competitive. But to answer to the question, we will use a mix of our communication style and also methods more conventionnals. Of course we will try to communication in a maximum of territories possible considering that the wealth of ManiaPlanet come from his users and the mix of the cultures.
Much of the activity revolves around ShootMania now. Once the game will be released, where you turn you? A new environment for TrackMania or ShootMania, or a whole new game as QuestMania?
You only need to follow the ManiaPlanet forum to know which is our next step ;-)
1 word to describe ShootMania?
Joy ! The joy that we have when we play to ShootMania, i often see on the servers players having à laugh for a reason X or Y and i love it. Same during the competition where i could assist, i often saw the players with a smile while playing and explode in joy at the moment of the victory which i appreciate particularly.
Thank you for all these details and I let you finish.
