STC8 1/8 Finals, what's happened?

de.png Acer vs fr.png 3DMAX : The de.png Acer steamroller continued its path of easy victories: 7/1 7/1 5/4.

no.png Lions vs se.png Replica: se.png Replica managed to overcome the norwegian obstacle: 5/3 7/4.

cz.png eSuba vs de.png !: Despite very good results in groupstage and a good 1st map, de.png eXclamation! faced a too strong opponent this time: 7/5 5/1 for cz.png eSuba.

de.png dacSP[1] vs eu.png RAGE: The German were really motivated to create the surprise here, they were not so far to did it: 7/0 2/5 7/4 for eu.png RAGE.

uk.png Dignitas vs uk.png Infused: uk.png Infused was a bit short of players for this match, the uk.png Diginitas task was facilitated: 5/2 7/2.

pt.png adv vs fr.png Saphire: fr.png Saphire started really well the match with a lot of enthusiasm: 5/2 for them on the multilap. Then things turned out badly: 7/0 7/2 for pt.png Advanced whose core players (fr.png Ned, pt.png kuduro, br.png Vini played all the maps) were really consistent.
But there was a discussion after the match that br.png Vini didn't entered his game-account on the STC website. It might lead to a defwin for fr.png Saphire since he played all the maps...
Edit: Finally, the admins decided to stick with their first decision: pt.png Advanced is defwin and thus eliminated of the tournament.

eu.png RtA vs fi.png UMF : fi.png UMF was reprieved thanks to a sk.png wX mistake, this time it was the true end for the best finnish team: 7/3 7/4 5/2 for eu.png RtA.

fr.png mX vs fr.png Mistral: fr.png Mistral had the misfortune to meet fr.png mX, they did what they can though: 7/1 5/2 7/1 for fr.png mX.

Again, all the favourites won their place for the quarter-finals but this time, it is going to be much harder to predict the winner, thus much more interesting matches to watch!

fi.png FI vs cz.png CZE: Which team is going to join the relegations? fi.png Finland! After a match where they were really more trained than cz.png Czech Republic, they won 7/4 7/0.

pl.png POL vs sk.png SVK: The big match of the playday, both team had their destiny in their hands: if sk.png Slovakia wins 3/0 it is first, otherwise it's pl.png Poland. So, what happened? The Slovakian team was more homogeneous and consistent than the Polish team, even if it was really tight on the first map: 5/3 for pl.png Poland and then 7/5 for sk.png Slovakia! After this map, sk.png HakkiJr came in the game and pl.png Poland couldn't do anything. Final score: 7/5 7/3 5/3 for sk.png Slovakia and the first place of the group.

WTF? lt.png Lithuania AND it.png Italy retired of the NC7... This is now a group of 3 teams instead of 6 at the beginning... no.png Norway is thus directly qualified for the play-offs, nl.png Netherlands and es.png Spain will have to play a relegation round.

se.png SWE vs ru.png RU: The Russians knew they just have one map to win and they will be qualified. And even though it is se.png Sweden against them, they decided to train a lot, hoping being able to take one map. Unfortunately for them, se.png Sweden is not the kind of team to show up untrained: 7/2 7/3 5/4. ru.png Russia can have a few regrets with a 5/4 on the last map.

ee.png EE vs ca.png CAN: ca.png CarlJr and his teammates knew the 3/0 was mandatory to go into relegations. The first map began quite well, 5/3 for them, then the pressure struck them, multiplying the mistakes while ee.png Estonia was playing ok. It led to a decisive 6/6 which the Canadians won 28/26! After that, ee.png Estonia was out, like they only trained the first map. Final score: 7/6 7/0 5/0 for ca.png Canada.

End of the Groupstage, with sadly many retirements: 6 out of 23 teams, one-fourth of the total. Nevertheless, the battle for the podium in each group was really exciting, especially in the Group 2.

A few surprises occured: it's the very first time we don't see ru.png Russia and it.png Italy in the play-offs of a NC, and we usually had pt.png Portugal and br.png Brasil.
And we honestly didn't expect sk.png Slovakia and hu.png Hungary to take such a place in their groups!

It's now time for the relegation round and the play-offs.
