[Up] TMM True Talent Cup - wally takes 1st! - ManiaActu - News for TrackMania, ShootMania, and QuestMania
Welcome on ManiaActu: ManiaPlanet Community & eSport News !

The cup is over and it's ca RtA wally that takes home the title as the True Talent and also 40.000 Coppers!

Originally wally finished second after be iGn | Rowan, but then it was discovered that Rowan had let his team-mate be iGn | Xeonn play with his account during the cup. Once the admins found out about it, Rowan/Xeonn were disqualified and the title went to wally instead.

Cool that TMNF finally gets a KO tournament, but, how exactly are you planning to finish the tournament in 2 hours with 64 players? You do really need 1 warmup round like in (t)mx ko's to make people with not-so-quick pc's able to join before the race starts, and then you have way over 2 minutes per map.Edit: Noticed that it actually isn't more than 4 maps, that means you have 16 rounds on each of them? In that case it sounds fine.

Why TMNF... and why only 4 maps? ._.

OH GOD i failed so much if its the case XD
I just totally forgot about tm2stadium since im not playing it atm xD

SORRY MINATO.

TMNF is still better than TM² Stadium so I'd guess that's the reason why.

I agree, even though I like also 2nd one ^^

It was exciting to watch! :)
Cool that you guys know the Knockout now. I hope there are more competitions like this in future, cause this game mode makes a lot of fun. For TM2 Canyon and TMU there are Knockouts every week on Saturdays, if you are interested to join for the fun btw.

Btw, gg to the Ign guy. In Knockouts everybody can win, that makes them so nice as well. ;)

Ye gg indeed.
Everybody can win, everybody can loose..

Suggestion for future TMNF editions; Divide players into 4 groups with around 20-30 players (this was the spot when lagg started to get acceptable) and play knockout until there is 5 players left. Gather the top5 from each server on the "Final" server and do another knockout. This will also make the cup a lot more sufficient as you will have 4 knockouts per round in the group servers. I'm also pretty sure I spectated/drove in a czech tournament that used a knockout system that didn't require restart every round, maybe worth checking out.

Ye, sounds like a good idea to me. How do they do it in Canyon and TMU Marius?
#16 by frostBeule on 2013-06-02 at 13:53
I think it's worth trying it out in TM2 Stadium since that game seems to be way less laggy than TMNF. Coz i rather like the idea of everyone being on the same server all the way to the end.

And if there's a knockout plugin that doesn't require a restart every round that would also improve the event.

Oh and apparently someone else was driving with Rowan's account which I find extremely lame and disrespectful. Hopefully TMM decides to give the victory to wally instead.

#17 by Wotre on 2013-06-02 at 13:55 Modified 2013-06-03 at 17:16
Rowan had to leave like 30 minutes before it started, so he asked us (his team) if anyone else wanted to play in his place since he already payed entry fee. Several of us were too late to register so Xeonn took his spot. It's not like it's lame or disrespectful or something, because it's 1v1v1v1v1v1v1 anyway.. If it's Rowan or Xeonn or whatever.. Don't see your problem, doesn't make a difference at all. Xeonn, Rowan whatever won fair and square, everybody saw that?
#18 by frostBeule on 2013-06-02 at 14:19 Modified 2013-06-02 at 14:21
It was unfair and misleading to everyone participating in the cup, to the organizers and to the casters who all were praising Rowan for something he never did. TMM should set an example that this is not ok behavior for the future.
#19 by Wotre on 2013-06-02 at 14:27 Modified 2013-06-02 at 15:14
You praised an unknown player, he is. You wouldn't have known Xeonn either. Only fault: he should have contacted orga and just asked if it was ok if he drove. 1) it was 30 minutes (or less) before the start. 2) he never expected to make it far. 3) nobody should feel cheated, an unknown Belgian IGN player have won, end of story.

EDIT: If it's our intention to cheat, why would we come forward with it afterwards?

Ye, sounds like a good idea to me. How do they do it in Canyon and TMU Marius?

Pretty simple: Roundsmode with one warmup and one liveround. In the end of the map the last finishing player or every player who didn't finish the track will be forced into spectator-mode by the system.

And there are way more maps to be played, not only 4. So it really counts on who is able to drive unknown maps to win the knockout. ^^
