Laurens how old are you for real, you are responding to this thread like your going to suicide, just leave it alone ESWC has announced this and they gave a reason why they did so. Just fking face it.
#43 by wormi on 2013-05-11 at 11:24
Laurens hoped so much to be 5th again ;_; Nah just kidding, it's great to see at least one environment of TM in. Canyon will have other tournaments in future for sure, and I don't see anything bad to drive offline tournaments too. Awsomniac, for example, has a sick lineup for those.
#44 by Tamarillo on 2013-05-11 at 11:37
I exactly wanted to ask you the same Laurens.. I don't know how old you are, but you are acting like a three year old who didn't get his lollypop and continuously whines about it to everybody.

I think it's not more than logical that IF they want one game for ESWC 2013 in terms of TrackMania, that they pick Stadium. It's been going on for ages now and in my eyes the level is just higher than in Canyon. The argument that the same players are still on the top is invalid, as we see new players reaching that very high level each year (Royal, PokeR, Asserich and many more) and it's not like old players are 'dominating' or something.

Besides that, who cares Stadium² is still in Beta? I think we've seen many 'beta' titles at world cups or big events, such as CS:GO and Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty/Heart of the Swarm. Besides that, if you would have played (which you could have, but I don't understand the comment then), it's not like it's in some sort of alpha mode where it would be unthinkable to have tournaments with it.. it's more or less finished, just some final tweaks to make it better I guess. ALSO, the tournament is in a few months.. I'm sure that at the time the game will be released.

Seriously, I don't dislike the community of Canyon (well, if Laurens wouldn't have made these comments I'd have a little clearer view about it, but one person doesn't make a community ;-)), but I don't think it's a that weird of a choice and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have thought it would be a weird choice if I, for instance, would have been a Canyon player.

Too bad for you that there is no tournament more at ESWC, but I'm sure other tournaments will step up. If people enjoy Canyon more than Stadium, they should play that and create tournaments with that.

Maybe the Stadium drivers, specially frost, can explain me why stadium is better for the esport as canyon ?!? Only coz Stadium have more active players? yes its true. But stadium have still the same worldclass drivers on each cup. or not ?

Well I believe I did write a couple of more things besides the active players point that makes Stadium better as an esport, I guess you missed those.
And yes there are a lot of good players in the game that I think can become a world champion in compare to Canyon. As I also wrote, the game has had 7 different world champions in 7 years. That's a remarkable fact.
And the more people that get that chance to play, the better the competition will obviously be, and that's what should be the goal here, because right now we're just standing still/dying.

Next think is: Sure the esl cup mode is more fair for the players, but the normal cup mode is more exciting for the viewers... thats the fact!

Have you actually experienced this mode yourself? It doesn't sound like you have. To be honest, I haven't heard from anyone that has tried or watched the mode in action that think this is a bad mode for competitions. Why not give it a chance? The normal Cup Mode has not developed whatsoever since it got introduced, but it's still used just because it's the standard in the game (and it's hylis' baby). But that shouldn't mean anything imo.

Cup mode is weird for specs, they need explanations.. ESL is a bit more complicated and imo a spec understanding killer...But who cares...We are at ESWC!!
#47 by Laurens on 2013-05-11 at 20:29
Nice to see how stadium guys are at LAN without even knowing who is there from canyon.. I'm 18 btw and was in every past LAN where you were.. but let's see next time how you'll face me ;-)

furthermore, this cup mode hasn't to be changed.. Although I understand your points, because I've only bad memories of this mode :( but sometimes, I know sure it gives you also luck..

Laurens: You know, we don't really need you in this community btw. Talking like that won't make you go far, like frostBeule said. You know what? I tried Canyon and I didn't love it. I wasn't that bad at all, I could have reach a high level, but Stadium remains my favourite, so don't talk sh*t about Stadium players that don't want to moove to Canyon.. It's 2 different games. Plus, you claim being 18 years old? Alright, then you only have to proove it now and stop acting like a baby! (Thx for the comparison, Tama..lmao ) :).
Minato: I understand your frustration, but Stadium has been part of the scene since a couple of years now... Canyon only 2 years.. or maybe less.
I don't really love when people says that one game is more exciting to watch as the other.. That's just favouritism (idk if this word exist lmao). Just accept the way it is..You can't do anything... As a Stadium player, OFC i want Stadium to be promote and all that stuff, but you know what? I can't even go to events, since I'm living at the other side of the Atlantic. Some exception: Carl Jr. But unfortunately for me, I'm not as good as him, so it's almost impossible for me to go to main events.
Just accept the situation as it is.Best regards.

Please don't kick Laurens out because of some angry statements tho.
#50 by Gaby on 2013-05-12 at 19:12
Yow!
I know most of you mainly because I'm involved on both Stadium and Canyon communities. For sure we all know that it is sad for Canyon to loose this tournament but does Canyon deserve to be @ESWC? Canyon doesn't have so much players all around the world. If you remove FR and Germany, you remove more or less 90% of hard players on TM2C.

And what is the best? Having two really small tournament? Or one bigger than it was last year (I hope ths team there will be more than 8 slots).

fB I'm against ESL Cup mode checkout why on the MP forum post.

Laulau Gosh so much hate from you that I didn't expected... Laurens you are a friendly and really cool guy in real life and I hope you told this just because of raging...

Well, laurens just prooved to everyone he's the biggest retard/rager/impolite kid in this community.. Well, one of the worst lol..at least on internet.
#52 by Aken on 2013-05-12 at 23:14
Stadium is here since 10 years and one could expect it is getting older and older compared to Canyon which is a new gameplay. Then why Stadium has still much more players than Canyon and much more online tournaments?
#53 by oNio on 2013-05-13 at 01:23 Modified 2013-05-13 at 01:23
7 Years, YO! But ofc you're right ;) It's not unreasoned that Stad is in and Canyon is out
#54 by OuTrag3 on 2013-05-13 at 12:50
You all say that its been 7 years of tmn by now, annd its logic that tmn is at ESWC if we have only one choice.
Imo this is the point of why canyon should be there instead of tmn, it's time for tmn to let the place to the next-gen TM.
Like CS (1.6 & source) did, like SM replace Quake, LoL replace Dota...
I want to tell you all guys onne other thing why cannyon should be here. We (canyon) guys can't be a part of the tournament, TMNN is way to much skilled for guys (like me) who never played TMN. Beisde, TMN guys cann easily play canyon and be very competitive on it (frostbeule ect..) So we could have ann unexpected finnal in canyon.
#55 by maxil on 2013-05-13 at 12:59
OMG I didn't read all the commenst, I just want to know when we can send maps :PP
#56 by Wally on 2013-05-13 at 13:10
Ok Outrage. So what you want is that Canyon replace Stadium? So the Stadium community will all die? Pretty cool. Let me remind you that the 3examples you have, CS 1.6 and source, SM-Quake, LoL-Dota... They are all the same game, almost same gameplay. Canyon and Stadium are both different games. You can't replace Stadium, since it would die without these events. Canyon is still new so there's no danger for it to die.

You guys are making me sick. All those Cayon players think their game is the best and should replace stadium. You guys are so narrow-minded.

Grow up.

#57 by OuTrag3 on 2013-05-13 at 13:45 Modified 2013-05-13 at 13:55
I dont want tmn to die, and it will never (and i want to tell you that i love to watch TMN annd playing occasionaly). But canyon is diing because like you said, TMN players think their game is the best and dont want to give a shot on canyon unnless there is money put on it.Tell me now who is narrow-minded.

CS 1.6 is not the same as GO and by far, SM-Quake too, LoL-Dota too, your argument is invalid here. Same goal but way dofferent gameplay (like nation annd canyon). This is the logical way for a game to grow up. But you are to selfish to see that.

You are making me sick, canyon at ESWC would unified all community, because tmn players will do this tournament ($$$$$), tmn players can win this tournament (because the game is a lot easier), and so canyon and nation will be together. With only tmn, beh only tmn players, because canyon guys can't compete in your game, and if a canyon player give a shot he will do nothing.

So the result is here, instead of having 2 comunity in one game, you have one comunity in one game, and one who is not happy (and that's normal)

#58 by Wally on 2013-05-13 at 15:05 Modified 2013-05-13 at 15:07
Lol, you said clearly this: ''it's time for tmn to let the place to the next-gen TM.'' in your #54 post.

I never said canyon should die and let all the space to nations. ESWC admins had to take one game, they picked Stadium for some reasons: Bigger community, more players, known by more people. That's it. Accept the fact.

I would have love to see both games, because they are both fun to watch. I enjoyed watching the final last year in Canyon..Furthermore, you are saying canyon is a far more easy game than Stadium? I disagree. You are saying canyon guys can't play stadium beacause it's too hard... So, according to you, which game should be shown at ESWC? A game with a high skilled ratio of players, or a easier game where the skills needed is inferior?

I'm not saying that you shouldn't play canyon and go to Stadium, but saying that you CAN'T play stadium is invalid. Before saying such a thing, grow some balls :)

#59 by clz92 on 2013-05-13 at 15:07
@ OuTrag3: There are some flaws in your arguments. First, it is TrackMania²:Stadium (next-gen trackmania as you called it?) that will be played at ESWC, not TMNF. Furthermore Canyon is destined to fail as a serious e-sport title. The new Vally environment is scheduled for release in the near future. That will divide the allready small canyon community even further. In the following years Nadeo will probably release even more environments which will only increase the problems for Canyon. In the end Canyon (and the other environments) will have to settle for a role as the new united. Loved by some, but not viable as an e-sports title.
#60 by Minato on 2013-05-13 at 16:07
Bigger community, more players, known by more people. That's it. Accept the fact.

I'm not really sure about this. It's TM2 Stadium and not TMNF as mentioned several times before. So is the competitive scene here really bigger than the one in Canyon?

Canyon is still new so there's no danger for it to die.

Lol.
