After having announced that the Las Vegas IPL6 event was canceled, due to financial issues, IGN deceided to make another event, based on what should have been the first one. But this time NADEO and Ubisoft seemed to have help them to make this event true by being partner of the event.
So this is no more a simple tournament, but a release party! Indeed, this event will be for the official release of Shootmania : Storm the 6th and 7th April in San Fransisco. So it seems that the canceling of the major US event was really annoying for the French Studio, and everything has been done to not let North America left without anything.
So the cash price remains the same, $100.000 shared by the teams that aready qualified during Online events. SK Gaming, Curse Gaming, 4Kings, PyroGEN, Spin Move, Team DM, Colwn, Fnatic, MonoManiac eSports, RiYM, RoughNeX,, vVv and Lady Killaz and the 2 last unknown NA teams will fight for the first place
IGN announced yesterday that IPL6 tournament at Las Vegas was officialy canceled. They explained some of the reasons on their website :
"We regret to inform you that we have decided to cancel our next public competition event, IPL 6 at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, March 28-31.
When we launched IPL two years ago, the eSports landscape was very different with far fewer events than we have now. Now there are more tournaments than ever before competing for people's time and attention, so we're no longer in a position to commit the resources required to run another major independent event.
You should also know that we are working on finding a new home for the IPL team and IGN will continue to broadcast partner tournaments in the future.
The past two years have been incredible, and we thank every one of the millions of people who tuned in to our events and coverage over that time. Your support has been tremendous and we could not have done this without you. We went from $5,000 online StarCraft 2 tournaments to one of the world’s best and largest eSports events."
There is a rumor since few days that spread on the web, that IPL6 event in Las Vegas will be canceled. There are several reasons that can explain this situation. IGN, the IPL organizers, has been bought some months ago by a new company, and no one knew if IPL will remains. But it seems that this event was costing too muh money since years, and was not lucrative at all. So they deceided to stop this adventure. this rumour has been confirmed by IPL's sponsors but not yet by IGN...
But the cancelling of the lasts Shootmania : Storm Qualifiers speak for itself. So, this is a quite sad news since this tournament seemed to be one of the biggest ever seen on this game. We can not imagine the disappointment of every Teams that managed to qualify for the Last Vegas event, but mainly the North American ones, becasue IPL was one of the only Tournament for this continent.
We hope that this death will make something bigger and managed in a better way, and hope that the new IGN owner believe in eSport and in its potential, to make for us another awesome crazy event.
