ESWC : On the Road to World Cup 2012 !

ESWC has written a press release on their website to give the official informations about the date, the place and the official tournaments that ESWC will host.
Let's discover together what is the official & fun tournaments.

This is the official statement

"The 9th edition of the the Electronic Sports World Cup will be taking place from July to October 2012 with the international qualifying phase, and from November 1st to 4th for the international Grand Final, organized for the second successive year during Paris Games Week, in Hall 1 at Porte de Versailles in Paris, France.

Games titles have already been selected as official disciplines for the ESWC 2012:

Starcraft 2 © Activision Blizzard, 1v1 on PC, real time strategy (RTS)
Dota 2 © Valve Software, 5v5 on PC, multiplayer battle arena (MOBA)
ShootMania Storm © Nadeo Ubisoft, 3v3 on PC, multiplayer action game (FPS)
TrackMania Nations © Nadeo Ubisoft, 1v3 on PC, racing game simulation
FIFA 13 © EA Sports, 1v1 on console, soccer simulation
Tekken™ Tag Tournament 2 © NAMCO BANDAI Games, 1v1 on console, versus fighting

Beside the official competitions, the ESWC will feature additional tournaments during the Paris Games Week:

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive © Valve Software, for international teams
Trackmania Canyon © Nadeo Ubisoft, for international players
League of Legends © Riot Games, for local teams
Tekken™ Tag Tournament 2 © NAMCO BANDAI Games, for local teams in 2v2

Additional games, tournaments or show matches may be announced in the coming weeks. The organization of the preliminary trials will be announced separately by territory. For France, there will be qualifying tournaments in September and October, and during the 2 first days of Paris Games Week (October 31st and November 1st)."

As we can see, the Grand Final will take place in Paris.
It's a good thing for Nadeo to have ShootMania Storm & Trackmania Nations as an official disciplines and have Trackmania Canyon as an additional tournaments. They have their last two games on the ESWC World Cup 2012 !

sent my yearly email now asking if they will pay out the 2008 prize money. one would think now that the old owners are completely in charge of the brand again that they will do the right thing. sadly i doubt they will though, and the general crowd continues to unfortunately not care and keep bending over to these guys.

What does this "Additional Game" thing means? Is it still the "first WC" for TM² with high prizemoney or is it just promotion?

Don't know, hope that additional tournament isn't a fun tournament with no-cash or no-hardware

Come on frostbeule... ESWC won't pay prizes from their past tournaments, you knoiw that, so just go and kick some asses in ESWC'12, grab prize and be happy! :D

I think that "Additional Game" means that the tournament is funded by the game editor and not ESWC.

#2 "Additional Game" - side tournaments, it's not main title, sponsors of this tournament are game creators.
